CSA 50th anniversary celebration concludes

The Chakhroma Sports Association’s 50th anniversary celebration concluded on Saturday with Zhaleo Rio, advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs as the special guest at local ground, Chümoukedima town.

Group-D emerged as the champions in men’s football after defeating Group-B in a closely contested final match. In the marathon race, Keneivino (Group-C) emerged as the winner in women’s category while Megokhono (Group-C) and Zekuvono (Group-C) bagged the second and third place respectively. In the men’s marathon, Kevizhapu Terhüja (Group-D), Kevimedo Dolie (Group-D) and Pelesatuo (Group-B) came first, second and third respectively.

Speaking at the closing function, Zhaleo congratulated the CSA for reaching the 50th milestone overcoming all hurdles through decades. He noted that the feat achieved by CSA was exceptional since its affiliation to Angami Sports Association in 1970 and felicitated all medal winners saying that winners should not bask in their victories but rather strategise to excel at higher level. He also encouraged losers to strive with stronger determination so that they may win in future.

Zhaleo also lauded all the sportspersons of Chakhroma who have earned laurel and ranks at state as well as national level. He said that it was time for Chakhroma people to move ahead wherein leaders should put more effort to nurture and produce exemplary sportspersons in the field of games and sports. 

Zhaleo also urged the parents to support talented youngsters for proper training in their respective discipline. He stated that the government was committed to support deserving sportspersons and as such, called upon parents and leaders to promote different sports at various levels in the society. 

The programme was chaired by Menguphrezo Ziephrü, general secretary, CSA while Yovotsol Kikhi, pastor, Virazouma Baptist Church invoked God’s blessings and Khotso Yalie, treasurer, CSA delivered the vote of thanks.
