A cultural exchange programme jointly organized by Garo, Kuki, Kachari, Gorkha and Highway Area Sumi Students Union Dimapur was held at NEZCC, Tuesday with Governor of Nagaland and NEZCC, chairman, PB Acharya as the special guest.

In his address during the first session, Acharya encouraged the gathered youth to focus more on entrepreneurship thereby creating jobs for others instead of being job seekers.

He said Northeastern youths were second to none and that they could excel in any field if they focus.

He also lauded the organizers for coming up with such an event which, he said, could be a first of its kind and that it was important for such kind of events since it depicts ‘unity in diversity’ of India considering the different communities that reside in Dimapur.

Speaking as the special guest during the second session, Highway Area Sumi Public Organisation Dimapur chairman Aheto Sumi urged the students to be elements of change by eradicating the barriers of culture, religion, ethnicity and ‘ism’ and to look beyond ethnicity by respecting each other.

Earlier the program was chaired by ANKSU president, Ghanshyam Jigdung, followed by an invocation prayer by TGBA pastor Atoshe Awomi.

Welcome address was delivered by HASSU president Abovi K Awomi.

Special performances were made by All Nagaland Kachari Students Union (Dimasa), Gorkha Students’ Union Dimapur (GSUD), Kuki Student Organisation Nagaland and Garo Students Union Nagaland Zone (GSUNZ) during the two sessions.

GSUD general secretary Ajay Thapa and GSUNZ president Cliff D Sangma proposed the vote of thanks during the first and second sessions respectively while MKBCN pastor Robin Mech offered the benediction.
