Cut-flower production training in Wokha

To promote entrepreneurship development in the field of cut-flower production among rural unemployed educated youth, Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Wokha organized a five-day residential training program on ‘Production and Management of Cut Flowers’ from March 22 to 26 at KVK Wokha Campus.

KVK Wokha senior scientist and head, Dr. Santosh Kr Baishya, in a press release reported that the program was conducted under the Attracting and Retaining Youth in Agriculture (ARYA) project. Youth were trained on nursery flower production, protected cultivation of high value crops, production of important cut-flowers, nutrient management in ornamental plants, Hydroponics and packaging and marketing of cut-flowers. The resource persons for the training program were Megokhono Meyase, ACTO (Horticulture) and Dr. BL. Mhalo Tungoe, ACTO (Agril. Extension). In the valedictory function, Dr. Santosh Kr. Baishya, encouraged the trainees to take up entrepreneurship development through floriculture and attract and motivate other youth to take up similar types of enterprises to secure a livelihood. The program was attended by 20 rural youths from five villages of Wokha district.
