CVBC observes 125 yrs of Christianity

Chozuba Village Baptist Church (CVBC) celebrated its quasquicentennial-125 years of Christianity on December 27 at the newly dedicated church building under the theme, “Great is thy Faithfulness”.

A press release by Quasquicentennia Celebration Committee (QCC) chairman, Jolayi Nienü stated that Nagaland Baptist Church Council (NBCC) general secretary Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho unveiled the monolith wherein Quasquicentennial Celebration Committee chairman, Purhiyi Demo presided over the unveiling ceremony.

Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho asserted that the history of Christianity lay not on one’s achievement but what God had done for us. 

Keyho reminded that the first missionaries who brought the message of the love of God had a divine purpose so that the generations to come would continue to celebrate the faithfulness of God saying. 

125 years of Christianity in a village is an event to be lived and we must continue to reach out to the unreached beyond the horizon by setting the mission to the east, west south and north and not remain complacent, Keyho added.

The opening ceremony was led by senior pastor of the church, Rev. Thepupa Swüro, Chozuba Area Baptist Church Council (CABCC) chairman, Vekusa Lohe invoked God’s blessing while Jolayi Nienü delivered the welcome note. 

The souvenir was released by board chairman, Vipralhou Kesiezie and greetings message was delivered by Khedi Baptist Church pastor, Neisalie Keretsü.

Special praises were presented by men fellowship of Khedi Baptist Church, Kohima Village, Yorüba Baptist Church choir, quasquicentennial choir and local Church combine choir while benediction was proposed by One Challenge International, Nepal field director, Rev. Besütsoyi Demo.

Earlier, a new Church building with sitting capacity of 2500 was dedicated by Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) executive secretary, Rev. Khrotso Mero on December 26.

The function was led by CBCC youth secretary, Muluvoyi Nienu and worship service by pastor Rev. Vesavo Shijo while Rev. Khrotso Mero spoke to the congregation.

During the programme, invocation prayer was pronounced by Rev. Pitolu Keyho, welcome address by building committee chairman, Lhüsetso Shijo, greetings by SABAK, Pughoboto executive secretary, Rev. Hotokhu P. Zhimomi and special praises by Bozio Nienü and Phizolü Nienü, Stewards of the Local Church and Quasquicentennial choir followed by benediction by senior pastor, Dapu Küllao.
