Cyber crime accused granted bail

 Gauhati High Court (GHC) Kohima bench on Monday has granted bail to Pankaj Kumar arrested by a team of Haryana police and Nagaland police personnel on June 9 from Kurukshetra in Haryana, after the a bail petition was moved in the court. Pankaj Gupta was arrested under sections of IPC with after non-bailable warrant of arrest issued by Judicial Magistrate First Class, Kohima (JFMC).

Issuing his order on July 27 after observing arguments by advocates of petitioner and respondent, Justice S. Serto, stated that there was no reason why bail cannot be granted as sought for. 
In this regard, the court ordered that the accused be released on furnishing of PR bond of Rs. 1 lakh with two surety bonds of the like amount, which should be furnished by residents of Nagaland and to the satisfaction of the JMFC, Kohima. 
The accused was also directed not to leave the State of Nagaland without the permission of the I.O of the case and the Court concerned, the order stated. 
Further, the order asked Pankaj not to indulge in any act which would hamper or interfere with the investigation and trial of the case.
Earlier, PRO Nagaland Police said that the cyber crime PS had taken cognizance of various social media trolls uploaded on various platforms by the accused, which were inflammatory, abusive, divisive and prejudicial to the maintenance of social peace and harmony attracting the provisions of IPC, which are cognisable and non-bailable.
