Dimapur Area Chuchuyimlang Senso Telongjem (DACST) celebrated its golden jubilee under the theme, “tsüngnüp lung”, on February 8 at Senden Reju, Purana Bazaar.

In his thanksgiving speech and exhortation, Temsü Imsong, vice president, Dimapur Langpangkong Senso Telongjem encouraged the people to pave way for the younger generation so that they can take up responsibilities in the leadership of their respective villages. “You cannot expect yourself to run a society once your back is bent and you’re too old, this is why we as the elders must help the young people exercise their powers for the good because this is their time”, Temsü stated.

He further added that Aos in general have expectations from Chuchuyimlang and that they mustn’t disappoint them because he believes the Aos together can do great works for society. “For many decades, Aos have been the torchbearers in all areas of the Naga society but we have been stagnant for so long and it is time we come together, set the weaknesses aside and do great things that will be spoken of in the days to come”, he added.

While speaking at the programme and stressing on the jubilee theme, P. Temsü Jamir, pastor Aoyimti Baptist Arogo said that the stepping stones (tsüngnüp lung) were unity, love and victory. He said that these three goals for progress signify the unity, love and victory of Chuchuyimlang people. Citing 1 Corinthians 10:4, the pastor said that only those footsteps that follow Christ were the true stepping stones.

Further, he added that Christ was the way, the truth and the life and that if a society continues to follow the “post-truth politics” era, the word of Christ will diminish and the society will keep lagging behind. In this he encouraged the people to put God first in all they do, especially when it comes to leadership and politics.

Earlier during the programme, jubilee opening was done by Süreplila Jamir and P. Moajungla Pongen, Bible reading and invocation by Rev. I. Meren Pongen, welcome speech by I. Sungit Longkumer, president DACST, while Dimapur Chuchuyimlang Watsü Telongjem, Benjongsola Jamir, winner of junior gospel voice hunt 2015 and jubilee choir presented songs.
