DAN conducts training on natural medicines

Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) carried out district level trainings on natural medicines in 120 villages across five districts on June 4. 

A press release from director DAN, Rev. Fr. S. Charles, stated that the training programmes covered 20 each villages from districts of Dimapur, Peren, Kohima and Phek and 40 villages in Kiphire. The training sought to capacitate at least two each individuals from each village in preparation and use of different herbal medicines from the locally available plants. 
The training was conducted under community health initiative of DAN, which seeks to build healthcare competence of communities through focused capacity building and behaviour change communication. 
Apart from training herbal medicine practitioners, village level health workers were trained and encouraged community action for better health through community health action teams in each of the targeted villages. 
The trainings were animated by director, Holistic Healing Centre, Jalukie, Rev. Fr. Visalsol Godfrey while Thriose Sangtam animated session in Kiphire district. In all, 252 persons attended the training programmes.
