DC notifies on road safety rules

In pursuance of the directive of the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety and in the interest and public safety, DC & chairman, District Road Safety Committee, Dimapur, Kevekha Kevin Zehol has directed strictly implementation of road safety rules.

In a notification, DC informed that traffic violations/offences regarding helmets, seatbelt, mobile phones, dangerous driving etc will be strictly dealt with and directed the enforcing agencies to impound driving licences of violators and the same to be forwarded to the concern licencing authority for necessary action. Owners of school buses, school/own managed operated transport buses and three wheelers have been asked to follow the prescribed carrying capacity mentioned in the registration certificate and to prominently display the seating capacity, visible to all passengers. Appropriate action will be initiated against all defaulters, it added. School authorities have been asked to ensure that under-aged students are not allowed to drive to school. 

Appropriate action will be initiated as per law against owners who allow vehicles to be driven by under-aged students, DC stated.
