In view of the need for efficient and speedy service delivery and total transparency, the Transport department is adopting the latest generation of Vahan 4.0 and Sarathi 4.0 for all processes of vehicle registration and issue of driving license along with many other services.

The Regional Transport Office, Kohima will be adopting this application very shortly. This application enables realisation of all the taxes and fees with late fines. For instance -- as per Government of India, Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MORTH), a sum of Rs. 300 per month is imposed for every two-wheeler, Rs. 500 per month for non-transport vehicles and Rs. 50 per day for transport vehicles as late fine after expiry of the certificate of fitness.

The department appealed to all vehicle owners and holders of driving licenses to update the vehicle taxes, fees and validate driving licenses, trade certificates, road permits, etc. before October 31, so as to avoid heavy fines and inconveniences.
