Dimapur Government College (DGC) celebrated its foundation day-cum-53rd fresher’s day at the college premises, Dimapur on July 25.

Addressing the gathering as guest speaker, retired IAS officer, Khekiye K Sema, said that  college should be a training ground where one’s mind can be trained as much as possible to observe and obtain wisdom and knowledge.

He described college as a place where one can cultivate best friendships and opined that the friendship cultivated in the college can be the last set of good friendship acquired in life.

The retired IAS officer later called upon the students to aim for the stars and urged the gathering to have high aims in life.

He stated that without having aspirations in life, “we tend to get stagnant in out works and aimless”.

He also encouraged the students to spend their time carefully by studying hard. Khekiye further reminded the students that wisdom cultivated in college days will define their future and thus urged the students to open up their minds and inherit as much wisdom and knowledge as possible.

Earlier, principal, DGC, Kavili Jakhalu, delivered the welcome address and invocation by Asso. Professor, Rebainla Ao.

Welcome song was presented by students of BA 3rd Semester.

Speech on behalf of the seniors was delivered by VP, DGC student council, Kibouwi and Nyuhon Moiya, on behalf of the fresher’s.

The programme was chaired by Asst Professor, Dr. Hannah, while general secretary, DGC student council, Viketo Sumi, said the vote of thanks.

Later, after the formal session, David Mao and Mhajani Lotha were crowned as Mr. and Miss fresher.
