Diesel price slashed, petrol unchanged

State-owned oil marketing companies decreased diesel prices by 15-17 paise across the metros on Thursday marking the first reduction in the rate of diesel in close to six months. Thursday’s revision in diesel rates is the first reduction since mid-March. 

OMCs had kept the diesel prices unchanged for 82 days to adjust a record hike in excise duty on fuels against declining benchmark costs.
According IOCL website, the price of diesel in Delhi was lowered to Rs.73.40 per litre from Rs.73.56 per litre while petrol remained at Rs 82.08 per litre. 
After today’s rate revision, diesel price in Dimapur was lowered to Rs.79.26 per litre while in the state capital Kohima diesel price was reduced to Rs.79.98 per litre.
A litre of petrol in Dimapur and Kohima was steady at Rs. 87.37 and Rs. 88.27 respectively.
Currently, petrol and diesel rates vary in different parts of the country, and any revisions are implemented at fuel stations with effect from 6 a.m.
