State-owned oil marketing companies increased diesel prices by 17-18 paise across all major cities, while petrol prices were left unchanged on Saturday. Diesel prices were hiked by 40 paise a litre in just three days.

After today’s hike, diesel prices rose to Rs 67.41 a litre in Delhi, Rs 69.83 a litre in Kolkata, Rs 70.73 a litre in Mumbai and Rs 71.27 a litre in Chennai. Petrol prices, however, remained unchanged in Delhi at Rs 74.74 a litre, in Kolkata at Rs 77.40 a litre, in Mumbai at Rs 80.40 a litre and in Chennai at Rs 77.70 a litre on Saturday.

The price of diesel was raised to Rs. 65.19 per litre and Rs.65.82 per litre in Dimapur and Kohima respectively on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a litre of petrol in Dimapur and state capital remained at Rs.72.66 per litre and Rs.73.47 per litre respectively. Currently, petrol and diesel prices are revised on a daily basis and any change in prices is implemented at petrol pumps at 6 am. The domestic fuel prices are determined broadly by the global crude oil and the rupee-dollar foreign exchange rates.
