Dimapur based college student unions ask DNSU to apologize

Dimapur based college students’ unions Thursday said they were dismayed by the recent “gesture” shown by the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) and demanded “unconditional apology” from DNSU.

In a joint statement, SMCSU advisor Kakugha Sumi, CCAC general secretary Boto Y Sumi, Salt Christian College students union general secretary, Gamal and Immanuel College students union president H. Kaboto Kibami reminded that the Dimapur based college students’ unit could take their own decision unlike the school going students, “who need a leader to be their mouthpiece.”
The Dimapur based college students’ unions cautioned that failing to apologize, the joint college students unit will suspend the students membership/funds collection.
It may be recalled that the Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) Tuesday maintained that the proposed indefinite bandh called on June 5 was without proper consultation and was a hasty decision. Since the proposed bandh was without its knowledge, DNSU said it decided not encourage the indefinite bandh.
Meanwhile, the unions also condemned the statement made by Naga Women Hoho Dimapur vice president, Vimeno Liegise on June 5. The unions said, Vimeno who claimed to represent NWHD, not only provoked the peaceful agitation but also made false allegation against ANCSU officials of asking Rs. 15 lakhs from Higher & Technical Education department, without credible evidence.
