Dimapur city bus service from Sept

A proposal to re-introduce bus services within Dimapur City has been approved by the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Dimapur at its meeting in the DC’s Conference Hall on August 14.

The meeting was attended by Adviser Power and chairman Dimapur DPDB Tovihoto Aye, deputy speaker NLA Zhaleo Rio and Moatoshi MLA.

According to an official bulletin, the City Bus service will become operational with effect from the first week of September 2018.

 Tovihoto informed that initially four buses will ply between Dimapur to Chumukedima and Chumukedima to Dimapur. He said ten more buses presently under renovation will also be pressed into service. 

The DPDB also agreed to extend the bus services to Medzhiphema, Niuland, Doyapur etc. 

NST assistant general manager, Thomas informed the board that two “pink buses” will ferry only ladies from Dimapur to Kohima. He said the transport department has sought the cooperation of district administration, police, traffic, DMC and all the stakeholders for successful operation of the all-ladies bus service in Dimapur. 

The elected members also expressed concern on various requirements put up by the Dimapur district hospital. In response, the members unanimously agreed to write to the medical department as priority. On the approach road from the main road to the Dimapur district hospital compound, the Engineer assured to take up the work in the next phase. 

 The DPDB also approved the LADP schemes 2018-19, compiled with a view to uplift the lower strata of the society, and decided to send to the State Planning Board for approval. 

On the agenda for opening of new schools, the house passed for approval of VB Infant Digital Home (Pre- School) at Kevija-u Colony; Zakierhi Shuya Memorial School, Chumukedima village; Veneiye Public School, Razaphe Basa. 

The board decided to take up the issue of upgradation of schools in the next meeting after re-verification by the district administration.

On registration of societies, the members decided to approve registration of Institute of Naga Studies, Dimapur and Nagaland Ayurveda & Folk Medicine Society Dimapur as all the documents were found in order. 

For the rest of the societies seeking for registration, the House informed the concern society members to explain their aims and objectives during the next meeting.
