Dimapur: LSHSS, SMC, C-EC and MMC observe Fresher’s Day

Little Star Hr. Sec. School (LSHSS),  Sakus Mission College (SMC), C-Edge College (C-EC) and Mount Mary College (MMC) held their Fresher’s Meet in respective colleges to welcome the new comers. 

LSHSS: Little Star Hr. Sec. School (LSHSS) observed its Fresher’s Day at the school hall on July 6, wherein  judges were Khrienuo Metha, (Retd.) commissioner & secretary, Nagaland, and members of the Dimapur District Ladies Club, Hokhuli Sema, gen. secretary, DDLC, Ethel Kikon, treasurer, DDLC and Megonuo Rio Yaden, entrepreneur.

A press release from LSHSS stated that, title holders of 2018 entered the hall escorted by Star Kids Pre School students. In the ethnic round competition, 161 students showcased their creativity through beautifully designed ethnic outfits. The judges chose the top eight finalists for the Mr. and Miss Ethnic title. The talent hunt started with 6 finalists vying for the Star Talent Title.

The following students were awarded the much sought after titles. Miss Fresher 2019, Moamenla Longkumer, Mr. Fresher 2019 Deweyo Lasuh, Miss Ethnic 2019 Pungbale Rangkau, Mr. Ethnic, Manpong Y. Konyak, Star Talent 2019 Kunili Ayemi. Miss Congeniality 2019 was won by Michelle Adani Yanthan and Mr. Congeniality Dekhenpi T. Sangtam. Mr. and Miss Congeniality were chosen by classmates through secret voting.

Khrienuo Metha in her exhortation stated that all the participants were winners, because they had been admitted into this premium institution. She said that their life was in their hands, whether they would be able to soar or to drown. She told them that if they use taps in their home, then they should use a mug to collect the water and wash their faces and brush their teeth with, so even this small act, if performed by every student will save tons of water.

Hokhuli Sema in a short speech praised the students for their creativity and style, their boldness and courage and exhorted them to be fearless in whatever they do.

Kekhrielezo, music and vocal teacher of the school gave a haunting melody titled “Listen To Our Hearts.”

Earlier, invocation was given by school chaplain, P. V Francis, welcome address by principal, Christina Neikhrienuo and word of thanks and benediction by Nini Sekhose, chairman,LSHSS.

SMC:  Sakus Mission College celebrated its 25th Fresher’s Meet – 2019 on July 6 in the college auditorium.

A press release from SMC Dimapur stated that, Dr. Arenla Aier, principal SMC said that an institution can progress only when there was good infrastructure, experienced and dedicated teachers and supportive management, where students’ only duty was to give back by being dedicated students. While exhorting that only classroom learning was not enough to be successful, she also urged them to remember the book of Matthew 6:36. 

Earlier, invocation was offered by Amenla Aier, chaplain SMC, welcome address by Manshen, president SMCSU and benediction by Senjano Kithan, assistant professor of History. Other highlights of the programme included solo and group dance performances by various students, whiel Wangyat Wangsu and the band enthralled the audience. Phiduhto and Imkumnaro of BA 1st semester were crowned Mr and Miss Fresher SMC 2019 respectively. The hosts were Nokrensashi and Atula Yaden of BA 5th semester. 

C-Edge College: C-Edge College Fresher’s Week concluded with the finale programme at the college GK auditorium on July 5, wherein Fresher’s Week was held from July 1 to 5. 

The participants of the Mr. & Ms. Fresher’s were selected based on the auditions which included introduction session, ethnic round, talent round and the grand finale with question answer round. Guest speaker for the finale event was Bano Haralu, Editor-in-Chief of Nagaland Today, where she encouraged and motivated the students with her thoughts and experiences. Welcome speech and pledge of allegiance was done by Er. Moa Aier, president of the college.

Avitoli G. Achumi and Mughava Sumi were crowned as Mr & Ms Fresher 2019, with Inaluans and Chulliam as the runners up. The other awards given were Mr & Ms Best Ethnic wear winners and Mr & Ms Talent winners. The event was chaired by Ms. Abigial Keyho of BA V sem. A special duet was presented by Peuningle & Yukholi of BA V and BBA III. Speeches on behalf of the seniors and Freshers were delivered by Talimongla of BA III semester and Lyingbeni of BA I semester.

Felicitation and awards based on good attendance record and academic excellence was presided by Ms.WapanginlaAo, Acting Principal and Asst. Prof of Management Dept. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Ms.AngukaliYeptho, CECESF General Secretary.

MMC Chumoükedima: Mount Mary college, Chumoükedima celebrated its 8th Freshers meet 2019 on July 6 at MMC hall. 

DBC: Discipleship Bible College (DBC) celebrated its 38th Freshers Day with 110 new students from different tribes, States and Country on July 5. Proprietor and Editor of Tir Yimyim K. Temjen graced the occasion as guest speaker wherein he encouraged the Freshers to move on with true faith and commitment.
