Public Action Committee (PAC) comprising of Naga Council Dimapur (NCD), Naga Women Hoho Dimapur (NWHD), Urban colony Chairmen Federation, Dimapur (UCCFD), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce & Industries (DCCI), Dimapur Sardar GB union and Presidents of 19 tribal Hohos have resolved to appeal all Naga political groups (NPGs) to restrain from all forms of collection within Dimapur district and to uphold their declaration to cease tax collection.
In a press release, PAC convenor, Vekhosayi Nyekha, and co-convenor, K Ghokheto Chophy, said the committee held a meeting on July 10, 2018 at Naga council office to deliberate on the exorbitant and random collection in the name of tax collection prevailing in and around Dimapur.
They said the house also resolved to call upon all Naga political groups to unify under one platform to pave the way for an early solution to the prolonged Naga political issues. The meeting also deliberated on working out means for “symbolic ration collection” as practised earlier.
Further, the house reaffirmed public resolution taken on October 31, 2013 and to stand by “one government, one tax”. The meeting decided to further restrict all forms of collection/multiple taxations/syndicate & dealership fees within Dimapur district, which was being “randomly collected by agencies or in the name of underground groups causing untold harassment to business community and giving way to price rise in the market.”
Meanwhile, PAC has appealed to the Dimapur district competent authority to be vigilant and take action in curbing antisocial elements prevailing in and around Dimapur.
