Dimapur police nab inter-state car thieves

Dimapur police have reportedly arrested four persons for illegally operating an inter-state vehicle theft racket on February 8, 2021.

Explaining the modus operandi of the gang, Dimapur police PRO, said they would, on the pretext of hiring the target vehicle (mostly from Assam), snatch the vehicle after serving the unsuspecting driver with soft drinks laced with drugs.

The arrest took place after a driver from Dhemaji district on regaining conscious brought the matter to Niuland police. 

The four were arrested from Diphupar, Blue Hill station area, Dhobinalah and Lengrijan area. The four arrested accused have been identified as Abdul Latif (36) and Nurzal Islam (35) of Hojai district, Assam; Uji Ali (28) of Golaghat district, Assam and Tovi Chishi (33) of Zunheboto district and currently residing at Diphupar ‘A’ colony. PRO said two stolen vehicles were also recovered.
