Dimapur police releases crime reports

Dimapur Police, through its additional deputy commissioner and PRO, has released crime reports registered in different police stations across the district.

Following are the reports. Several arrested on extortion charges
Dimapur Police Anti Extortion Team, Zone (AET) on May 28 arrested UT-1 NSCN (I-M) ‘leacy’ Kelhousie Angami (45) son of Razhulvie Angami of Jotsoma village, Kohima and presently residing at Residency Colony, Dimapur. 
He was arrested while collecting illegal tax from the butcher stalls at Fire Brigade Colony, Dimapur. An authorization letter, issued by finance secretary of GPRN/NSCN (I-M) was seized from his possession, PRO said. In this connection, a case has been registered in Dimapur East Police Station.
On May 27, AET also apprehended two persons Sabdir Ahmed (31) son of Rahal and resident of Ghorapatti, Dimapur and Zuhuto Yeptho (51) son of Philikha and resident of Sematilla, Dimapur, for collecting illegal tax from two wheelers carrying vegetables. PRO said Rs.1360 cash was recovered from their possession. In this connection, a case has been registered in Dimapur East PS.
On May 20, two persons identified as Davis Sumi (30) son of Zuvukhu, Dimapur and Ato Sumi (29) son of Kughaho Sumi were apprehended and seized an unregistered motorcycle (Hero Honda Splendour) along with blank writing pad of GPRN ministry of Chaplee from their possession. In this connection a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.
The tea also apprehended NSCN (R) ‘lieut’, Kalipo Awomi (27) son of Hoivi resident of Phishumi village, VK Town, Zunheboto and presently residing at Burma Camp, Dimapur, while collecting illegal yearly vehicle tax from the pick-up truck drivers on May 28. Police also recovered eight yearly vehicle tax receipt of NSCN (R) from his possession. A case has been registered in Dimapur East Police Station, PRO said.
The team also apprehended Atoka Awomi (23) son of Khutoi Awomi and presently residing at Thilixu village, Dimapur, while collecting illegal money from Truck carrying sands located at Kiyeto village area on behalf of NSCN (I-M) on May 18. Police seized Rs. 5050 from his possession and case registered at Sub-Urban Police Station, Dimapur.
On May 18, the team apprehended FGN ‘home secretary’ Selithre Sangtam (40) son of Pikyusi of Seyochung village, Kiphire and presently residing at Diphupar ‘A’ Dimapur, while extorting money from the business establishments at Notun Bosti Dimapur. Police recovered one authorization letter, nine extortion slips and 44 Residency registration slip from his possession. A case has been registered vide Dimapur West PS, PRO said.
On June 7, Dimapur police apprehended “NSCN-K Khango”, sectional officer, Avika Kughalu Chophy (32) and recovered extortion slip of GPRN Ministry of Chaplee NSCN/GPRN (K) and Rs 1800 cash, one motorcycle (Yamaha) and a phone from his possession. A case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur for further investigation.
On the same day, police also apprehended Daniel Poumai (45) resident of Lahorijan, Assam, a minor, Lashika Chophy (19) resident of Burma Camp and Kakito Sumi (22) resident of Notun Bosti from New Field Check Gate area Dimapur for collecting illegal tax from the commercial truck drivers entering Dimapur  from Assam. Police seized Rs.75,000 from their possession and a case has been registered at East Police Station, Dimapur.
Meanwhile, Dimapur Police SOT team on June 3 arrested Theophilas Seiminlal Singson son of late Lenkhohen Singsong of Ahathipong village under Jalukie, Peren and presently residing at Chumukedima Ward-09.
.32 pistol (colt automatic), seven.32 rounds, one .38 revolver (Smith & Wesson), six .38 rounds and one mobile phone was recovered from his possession, PRO said. In this connection, a case has been registered at Chumoukedima Police Station for further investigation.
