With a view to prevent clogging of roads by thousands of vehicles in Dimapur City and also reduce number of people out on the streets, Dimapur Police has decided to implement the ODD & EVEN number rule for all vehicles.

In an order, Commissioner of Police Dimapur, R. Tetseo stated that the order will be effective from May 11 till May 17. The order stated that all types of vehicles, both commercial and private, including two-wheelers, having registration numbers ending with odd digits (i.e.1,3,5,7,9) only will be allowed to ply on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The plying of vehicles with registration numbers ending with even digits (i.e. 0,2,4,6,8) will be allowed on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the order mentioned. The prohibition and restriction on movement of vehicles will however, not apply to those vehicles exempted through various government notifications that are currently in force in the state and Dimapur district.

The CP warned that violation of the order will be liable to be penalized under Section 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988.

In this regard, Dimapur Police has appealed to all citizens to abide by the order issued in the interest of public safety and convenience.
