As Diphu parliamentary constituency gears up to conduct the second phase of Lok Sabha poll on Thursday, the Dimasa ethnic militant group Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA) under the control of Dimasa Peoples Supreme Council based at headquarter Dima Haphai has called for a 36 hour Kabri Anglong and Dima Hasao shutdown.

In a press statement issued on April 15, the DNLA said that the strike will commence from 5.40 pm of April 17. However, the strike received poor response as situation remained normal in the entire hills in the middle of tight security. SP Karbi Anglong, G. Upadhay told this correspondent that security arrangement with cooperation from the neighbouring police and sufficient number of security personals including Para military forces have been deployed in all vulnerable polling stations. “Army has been kept in readiness for any eventuality, we expect polling will be peaceful and voters can cast their take part in the election without any apprehension,” Upadhay said.
