Diocese of Kohima celebrates Bible Sunday

Diocese of Kohima celebrated Bible Sunday, and annual event conducted by regional bishop’s conference of North East India and across parishes in the diocese on August 25.

A press release from Kohima diocese secretary stated that, Mary Help of Christians Cathedral commemorated the occasion with Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima, as the main celebrant for the Holy mass. Frs. Carolus Neisalhou and Victor concelebrated the Holy Eucharist.
Word of God was read by Rev. Fr. Carolus Neisalhou, parish priest and the congregation walked in procession to the church with the Holy Bible and placards of the word of God, “I Thirst”, “I am the Bread of Life”, “The Word was God” and so on.
During the homily bishop James elaborated on the six fundamental aspects of the Holy Bible. He added, Bible has transformed individuals and the word and explained that people are even willing to die for the cause of the Bible that is Jesus Christ, the WORD who became flesh. 
He further added that the Bible is the most accurate book of antiquity and said that it contains life-changing message of God’s Love. 
Second phase of the celebration was the Bible quiz competition where students took active participation to relive the Word of God among the intellectuals under the quiz master Dr. Louis Asa. The winners and the participants were all presented with cash award and other gifts. The first three individual winners will represent the parish in the regional sector.
Fr. Carolus Neihsalhou, thanked all the responsible persons for making the day a grand success.
