Disability awareness camps in Kohima, Mon

Nagaland Parent’s Association for the Disabled (NAPAD) conducted awareness camp-cum- seminar on disability at NBCC Platinum Hall in Kohima on August 16 and DRDA Hall in Mon on August 24. 

 A press release by NAPAD, secretary, Kapochu Naleo said that, in the awareness camp in Kohima, commissioner for the disabled, Atha Vizo highlighted the 21 different types of disabilities.  

In Mon district, the programme was conducted at DRDA Hall where D.C. Mon, Thavaseelam K  addressed the gathering. 

The resource persons were Kapochu-o Naleo, Mr Tongpang L. Jamir, Dr. Joyce Angami, Mary Sonar and Bendangla Imsong. 

They spoke on, ‘What is disability?’, types of disabilities, inclusion of PwDS, legal rights of persons with disabilities and provisions on right and entitlements of PwDs.

The participants for the camps were reverends, pastor, members from different churches and parents of persons with disabilities.
