Dist level social audit hearing in Tuensang, Zunheboto

District level social audit public hearing under MGNREGA was conducted at Tuensang and Zunheboto in their respective headquarters.

Tuensang: Society for training and research (STR) on rural development, social audit unit (SAU), Nagaland Kohima conducted the programme at conference hall of DRDA, Tuensang on March 17, for  Thonoknyu, Chessore and Noklak blocks.

A press release from ATR stated that, state resource person, Imlirenla Sanglier, pointed out that transparency and accountability were the main features under MGNREGA. She also emphasized on maintenance of three phases of photographs of all schemes/projects undertaken and that work code should be clearly shown in work order and sanction order issued by block office.   During discussion hour, clarification  on maintenance of seven register to be  maintained  by VDB was made, where  PD/DPC (MGNREGA), assured  training  on maintenance of seven register to be  conducted  shortly. SDO Civil Tuensang, Shelly Kaitry, who is also the observer from the district administration, lamented that most of VDBs were immune to money, rather than proper maintenance of records and documents.  He further challenged to set mindset by discharging duties in truest sense and that conducting social audit was not fault finding but to improve functioning and implementation system. Resolution was also adopted for further course of action, while vote of thanks was proposed by chairman Tsalito Sangtam PD/DPC (MGNREGA).

Zunheboto: Social audit meeting was held under the chairmanship of Inavi Chishi, project director, DRDA, Zunheboto on the MGNREGA programme and the importance on the conduct of social audit to bring about transparency and accountability in the implementation of programme on March 13. 

A press release from DRDA Zunheboto stated that, EAC Zunheboto N. Orenthung who was deputed as an observer reiterated VDBs to maintain proper record so that the development works under the central schemes would not be hampered. He also presented the social audit reports and accordingly resolutions were brought out for effective implementation of the programme.

Introduction was given by Imlirenla Sanglir, state resources person, SAU Nagaland and also briefly highlighted on the MGNREGA programme and the importance on the conduct of social audit.
