Distribution of piglets, chicks in Wokha

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Wokha under the project “attracting and retaining youth in agriculture (ARYA)” distributed 70 Hampshire cross piglets and 2,500 Vanaraja chicks to 52 rural youths from 14 villages in Wokha district on May 22. 

A press release from KVK Wokha stated that, under this programme, special efforts have been taken to attract the rural unemployed youth under the age of 35 years in agricultural activities to build confidence for sustainable income and gainful employment. 

KVK Wokha has been implementing the ARYA project since 2015-16, where four enterprises mainly pig, poultry, mushroom farmings and cut flower production were chosen as the main activities under the project. 

KVK Wokha has covered 140 rural youths under different enterprises from 26 villages in the district.
