District level football tourney concludes

Running trophy football match organized by 28 Assam Rifles (AR) Wokha, came to an end on Thursday at local ground Wokha. 

In the final, Wozhuro Football Club (FC) beat Tsumang-A Football Club (FC) 1-0. 

The lone goal was scored by Chonbenthung to help his team walked away with the running trophy and cash prize of 25,000 with medals and certificates. 

The runners-up Tsumag-A FC pocketed a cash prize of 15,000 along with medals and certificates.

Yibenthung Ezung of Tsumag-A FC and Meribemo Ezung of Proximos FC won the golden boot and golden gloves awards. They received a cash prize of Rs. 2,500 each along with certificates.

The main aim of the tournament was to select players from the district to represent in the forthcoming inter district football competition to be conducted tentatively by third week of September 2018 at State Capital Kohima.

Twenty four teams from 11 districts will vie for the upcoming Captain N. Kenguruse, Mahiver Chakra memorial football trophy at Kohima.

Captain Hirenbura 28 AR congratulated the players for the successful conduct of the tournament with true sportsman spirit and wished the players for their future endeavours.

The final match was witnessed by district administration represented by ADC Wokha, Mhathung Tsanglao, representatives from NGOs of Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho, Lotha Students’ Union as well as GBs from the district.
