District level training on ‘LaQshya’

District level orientation training on “LaQshya” was held for maternity OT staff and labour room staff of District Hospital chapel hall, Dimapur on July 16.

It may be noted that “LaQshya” (Labour room Quality improvement Initiative) was launched by Central government to improve quality of care in labour room and maternity operation theatres in public health facilities and it’s a multipronged approach focused at Intrapartum and immediate postpartum period.

In the training, DPO, RCH-UIP, Dr. Rebecca Y. Sema gave a presentation on LaQshya. 

A press release from district programme manager, quality assurance Dimapur, Vethipralu Lohe stated that, Dr. Rebecca said that LaQshya was a focused approach for ensuring quality of care around birth and emphasised on respectful maternity care and assessment of labour room standardization. 

DPM quality assurance Dimapur, Vethipralu Lohe highlighted on the objectives of LaQshya and oriented the trainees on national quality assurance standards and LaQshya certification process.

OB&G, District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. Koutsutho oriented the trainees on the key component and operational aspects of DAKSHATA, to strengthen the quality of care through competent and confident health care providers. He also spoke on objective structure clinical examination (OSCE) which is designed to test the clinical skill performance and competence in skills of the health providers.

Earlier, asst medical superintendent, DHD, Dr. Belho delivered the welcome address, and CMO Dimapur, Dr. K. Vikato Kinimi encouraged the trainees to utilize their skills and time to the best of their abilities while in service. The training was attended by gynaecologist, anaesthetist, maternity OT staff and labour staff under District Hospital Dimapur.
