DLSAs conduct activities across the state

District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) during the last few days conducted various awareness activities on (POCSO) Act, 2012, Motor Vehicle Act, 2019, Consumer Protection Act, 2019. 

Peren: DLSA Peren conducted awareness camp on “importance of will” and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 at Dungki village on January 27, chaired by Indeu, panel lawyer. Asungbe, retainer lawyer PDLSA delivered keynote address. Italang, panel lawyer spoke on the topic POCSO Act and further emphasized on the penalties for those defaulters under the Act. Asuni, panel lawyer also spoke on topic Domestic Violence Act. More than 30 beneficiaries attended the camp.

Phek: DLSA Phek in collaboration with Legal Metrology & Consumer protection and Taxi Union conducted awareness programme on Motor Vehicle Act 2019 and Consumer Protection Act, 2019 on January 27. On the Motor Vehicle Act, district project assistant Keneinuo Swuro highlighted the importance of vehicle registration and insurance. Sekhotso Rokha, panel lawyer presenting on Consumer Protection Act mentioned on consumer’s right to safety, choose, heard and seek redressal. Programme was chaired by Vethothi Vero, panel lawyer and short speech was delivered by Shekhozo Rhakho assistant controller, Legal Metrology & Consumer Protection, Phek. More than 25 beneficiaries attended the programme.

Mokokchung: DLSA Mokokchung organized awareness programme on Motor Vehicle Act at two driving Schools i.e Mokokchung Driving School and Hi-Tech Driving School, Mokokchung Town. The team was led by Mapujungla Pongen district project assistant, panel lawyer Limanungsang, PLV Molusen and Lipokakum. MDLSA also distributed printed leaflet on penalties under MV Act.

Meanwhile, DLSAs under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) joined the rest of the nation in observing the 71st Republic Day by setting up legal stalls at respective headquarters on January 26. DLSAs distributed legal pamphlets & booklets both in English and local dialects to those present at the public function.

As per the monthly common action plan, secretaries and chairpersons of district legal services authorities (DLSAs) visited juvenile homes/children home/observation home in the month of January. 

Longleng DLSA led by Tucuno Vamuzo, chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary along with panel lawyer P Monyei Phom and PLV attached to observation home visited Observation Home on January 27.

Tuensang DLSA visited Bethel Children Home Tuensang. Victo Sema, district & session judge & chairman, Kumdilong Kessen, JMFC-cum-secretary and panel lawyers interacted with children and supervisor of the Home.

As part of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) action plan, Kiphire DLSA visited Observation Home on January 24. During the visit led by Nokshei Kano, chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary DLSA along with district project assistant Rebecca Sangtam and other PLVs. It was observed that the office was running smoothly. There are four staff present in the office and at present as per the records there is no juvenile in conflict with laws at the observation home. 

Mon DLSA team led by Seyelienuo Mezhii, chief judicial magistrate-cum-secretary DLSA, Mon along with panel lawyers visited specialized adoption agency which is under the care of John 3:16 Society on January 25. 

WDLSA led by Khrievono  Seletsu, JMFC & secretary WDLSA visited observation home at Zuvotong Colony, Wokha on January 14 as per NSLSA monthly action plan. The members had a discussion with the board members of observation home and JJB on the rights and duties of JJB.

Phek DLSA team Mezivolu T Therieh district and session judge chairperson PDLSA,  Abraham asst. public prosecutor Phek, Sekhotso Rokha panel lawyer and Vethothi  Vero, panel lawyer visited Observation Home Phek on January 29. While interacting with probation officer and staff of the home, they shared grievances of the juvenile and some security concern. No case of juvenile have been registered this year and there is no pendency except for a juvenile who was released on probation. 

Peren DLSA visited observation home on January 27 at Peren town along with chief judicial magistrate and secretary Somet Chang and 4 panel lawyers. Secretary interacted with staff regarding infrastructure and management.
