District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) of Zunheboto, Longleng, Wokha and Tuensang have been conducting various legal awareness and activities during the month of September across the state. 

Zunheboto: Zunheboto DLSA conducted legal awareness with the executive members of Zunheboto Range Students Union, Zunheboto, on September 18 at District Court Complex, Zunheboto. 

A press release by NSLSA public relations assistant stated that, Wokono Yhoshii, secretary, ZDLSA, spoke on the topic “Fundamental duties” which are provided under Art.51-A of the constitution of India and emphasised on Art. 51-A(g) which state that it shall be the duty of every citizen of India to protect and improve the natural environment including forest, lake, rivers and wildlife. She stated that there is a need to educate the public at large and create awareness. Retainer lawyer Easter H Yepthomi spoke on the topic “Right of Children to free and Compulsory ,2009” and “The consumer protection act, 1986”. Nagaholi K Awomi, panel lawyer, ZDLSA spoke on the topic” National Food Security Act, 2013” and briefly highlighted on the aims and objectives of the Act. Programme was chaired by Easter H Yepthomi and closing remark was given by EbithungTungoe, office asst. ZDLSA.

Longleng: Online essay competition on the topic “Online schooling, can it be the future of education ?” was organised by DLSA Longleng.  The essay competition was held among the members of the LLC Longleng. Altogether 2 participants from 6 LLC took part and winners were 1st K Shingmei of Good Shepherd High School,  2nd A Yingli Phom of Good Shepherd School and 3rd Shingmei T Phom of B. Government Hr. Sec. School Longleng. Ajongba Imchen CJM/secretary LDLSA enlightens the students about the legal services and legal rights.

Wokha: Wokha DLSA created an awareness campaign on fundamental duties on the theme “with rights come responsibilities” imposing similar responsibilities on every citizen to protect and improve the natural environment and to have compassion for living creatures. As part of the campaign, Wokha DLSA led by JMFC/secretary Wokha DLSA, Khrievono Seletsu, panel lawyers Gracy Ezung, Renbonthung Tsanglao, Echungthung Ezung, Meribemo A Lotha retainer lawyer, Shanchobeni P Lotha district project assistant, WDLSA, para legal volunteers Daisy Tungoe and Mhajamo Khuvung planted trees and fruit saplings at Mount Tiyi Wokha. Banner on fundamental duties was also put up for awareness of trekkers and visitors on September 12.

Tuensang: Tuensang DLSA legal aid clinic held an awareness programme on Nagaland building and other construction workers welfare scheme on September 13 at Shamator town. Altogether 93 persons attended the programme with PLVs, Tsurito and Thsatong.
