DLSAs conduct legal awareness in various districts

Longleng district legal services authority (DLSA) conducted legal awareness on Motor Vehicle Act, 2019 and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 with students of Christian High School along with students from Children Home and Tribalhood Hostel, Nyengching, Longleng on January 31 and 28 respectively.

A press release from NSLSA public relations assistant stated that, during the awareness at Christian High School, keynote address was delivered by Imlichuba paralegal volunteer (PLV). P Monyei Phom, panel lawyer spoke on the topic “Motor Vehicle Act 2019 and Christian High School teacher in-charge summed up the programme with vote of thanks.
Mon: Mon DLSA organised one-day legal awareness programme at Holy Angel School, Tizit on January 30. N Mannon, project assistant DLSA Mon delivered the keynote address. She deliberated about various topics like POCSO Act, 2012, consumer protection act, RTE, RTI and child labor among others. She also shared the functioning and success stories accomplished by Mon DLSA thus far. 
Angun, panel lawyer spoke on POCSO. In her speech she stated that according to 2007 census more than 51% crime cases have been registered under POSCO which is increasing rapidly. POCSO is a gender neutral case, she added.
H Topha, panel lawyer also spoke on Consumer Protection Act &RTE topics. 
He called upon the students to be more vigilant while doing so as consumers and to claim one’s own rights without fear and hesitation. He also elaborated on how to register cases under consumer protection act, and said that under RTE, every child between the ages of 6-14 years must be given free and compulsory education. 
Peren: Peren district state legal services authority (DLSA) conducted a mass poster campaign by circulating, pasting and distributing pamphlets, posters and car stickers in various public offices in the district as part of the legal awareness campaign against the non-disclosure of identity of victims of sexual offence.
