DLSAs, KVK Peren & ZVWS celebrate IWD

District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing various programmes and activities in all the districts.

Zunheboto: Zunheboto DLSA in collaboration with district administration and Sakhi one stop center observed the day on March 8 at Lukikhe Shevishe village, Aghunato town. Wokono Yhoshü JMFC and secretary Zunheboto DLSA, delivering the keynote address highlighted the significance of the day and emphasized on legal provisions for women under Indian penal code and constitution. N Nyamoke Konyek EAC Zunheboto spoke on empowerment of women, followed by Alovini Yeptho Center administrator Sakhi-OSC briefed on 10 legal rights of women and schemes for women. Special number was presented by True Messenger and benediction by Rev. Victo Shohe Pastor AVBC. Pamphlets were also distributed with more than 100 women folk in attendance. Earlier, the programme was chaired by Tovi Z Yeptho, district project assistant and welcome address was delivered by Helito case worker Sakhi-OSC,
Longleng: Longleng DLSA in collaboration with Phomla Hoichem celebrated at GHSS auditorium where 140 persons. PLV Chingyau chaired the programme, B Ongthei Phom, vice president Phomla Hoichem gave the keynote address. P Monyei Phom panel lawyer briefed the significance of the day and further emphasized on 10 legal rights that every woman must know. Ajongba Inchen CJM/Secretary LDLSA spoke on the topic “The Village Council Act’.
Mokokchung: Mokokchung DLSA observed the event at town hall, Mokokchung in collaboration with Aoli Watsu Mungdang, Sakhi one-stop Centre and Fazl Ali College. Retainer lawyer I.Imkong Jamir was the resource person and Holika Sukhalu, Secretary, MDLSA participated at the event.
Peren:  Peren district administration in collaboration with district Social Welfare department observed the day along with Peren DLSA on March 8 at Jalukie town, Government Higher Secondary School ground. Italang, panel lawyer spoke on legal rights of women. Heirei WWO, MSK on BBBP highlighted on Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Pamphlets and leaflets in different dialects Liangmai, Zeme and Kuki were distributed to 100 beneficiaries.
Dimapur: Dimapur DLSA celebrated at Prodigals’ Home with Wondang-Ki Charitable Foundation on March 8. K. Ela, director, Prodigals’ Home delivered the welcome address. Men from the Prodigals’ Home IRCA (MEN), rehab home dedicated a special song to the women folks. Somet C Chang, CJM & secretary, Dimapur DLSA in her keynote address called upon women folk to encourage each other and also do their duties.  Sentimenla, panel lawyer DDLSA spoke on the topic “Basic Legal Rights with special reference to women.”  Takonaro Longkumer, Prodigals’ Home chaired the programme while around 100 people attended
Mon: Mon DLSA observed the day at Mon Village Baptist Church. Seyielenuo Mezhü, CJM-cum-secretary DLSA Mon spoke on the significance of the day. She encouraged the participants to be more active in playing the role of a good woman to create a peaceful & civilized society. Angun, panel lawyer spoke on various sub-topics on women’s rights & she also shared the “Nagaland Victim Compensation Scheme 2012”. Tingkai Konyak, PLV chaired the programme.
Wokha: Wokha DLSA para legal volunteers Chibeni Patton, Englan Circle, Renbemo Kithan, Daisy Tungoe, Athungbeni Humtsoe, Khyodemo Ezung, Zujanbeni Ezung, Zadeno Humtsoe, Mhajamo Khuvung, Roland Yimchunger, Meribemo Patton, visited identified widows from Wokha, Englan range-sub division Wokha sensitizing them on various schemes including widow pension schemes. Basic nutritional food and first aid were also distributed to the beneficiaries.
Tuensang: Tuensang DLSA observed the day at District Hospital, attended by district doctors, staff nurses and nurse trainees at District Hospital Chapal hall Tuensang.
Kohima: Kohima DLSA on March 9 celebrated at AMK Building Kohima, chaired by Mhechiete U Kenye panel lawyer Kohima DLSA, welcome address by Kevinourheno Seyie president, AMK keynote address was delivered by Phuleto Yeptho, secretary Kohima DLSA, Various topics  were presented by Nagali Shohe panel lawyer Kohima DLSA, Keduvi Zhotso panel lawyer Kohima DLSA, Vimeno Nakhro panel lawyer Kohima DLSA.
KVK Peren: Krishi vigyan kendra (KVK) Peren conducted a three-day training programme to mark IWD for farm women under the topic “poultry production and management” from March 6 to 8 at KVK office, Jalukie. A press release by KVK Peren stated that during the technical session, Dr. L. Babita Devi, head, delivered a lecture on the topic “backyard poultry production”. Z. James Kikon (ACTO, Soil Sc) spoke on how to set up “nutri-garden” in the backyard by incorporating different plant varieties suitable for the region. Programme was graced by Atwa Meru, president, Jalukie town women welfare society (JTWWS), as special guest. Altogether 37 farm women including four anganwadi workers from Mhainamtsi, Jalukie town, DB Colony and Keleilwa Colony attended the programme.
ZVWS: Zapami Village Women Society (ZVWS) celebrated the day, sponsored by VLO and SHG Zapami village on March 8 at Zapami village. 
Wete-u Wetsah, pastor Calvary Baptist Church Pfutsero Town spoke on the occasion. Wete-u said for a society to progress and realize its full potential of growth in all spheres gender equality was a must. Recalling how women have been empowered in the society, she said all can witness faster growth and advancement in all the areas. Zewekha Wetsah, VCC also exhorted the gathering. Programme was chaired by Lhitewe-u Wetsah, women VDB secretary Zapami while vote of thanks was proposed by Melhite-u Khutso, chairperson VLO Zapami. About 200 participated in the programme.
