Don’t make NHM a political agenda: NEAN

National Health Mission Employees Association Nagaland (NEAN) has urged the responsible authority not to make the National Health Mission (NHM) programme a political agenda/platform.

In a press release, NEAN vice president Dr. Avika P Jimo and general secretary Kewetso Kenye maintained that NHM, being implemented on a mission mode, was the “heart” of the health & family welfare department.

They pointed out that each activity and programme under National Health Mission was target based and had a timeline, which invites disincentives from the centre if not implemented and completed on time (monthly, quarterly & yearly). They stated that frequent and untimely transfer and deployment hampered the programme intricately. In addition, NEAN said that delay of all round implementation was “quite vivid” due to such situation. It cited an example of delay in release of funds even the basic employees’ salary (three months i.e. April –June 2019).

NEAN has, therefore, appealed to the authority to take note of such complications and hardships being brought into the programme due to such hasty political decision. It also appealed to the authority to resolve the issue at the earliest for the smooth functioning of the programme.

National Health Mission Employees Association Nagaland underlined that the concerns raised were purely based on the interest and welfare of the programme and did not have any personal vested interest, whatsoever.
