DoNER Secretary visits NGA

Secretary, Ministry of DoNER, Government of India, Naveen Verma, visited Nagaland Gandhi Ashram (NGA) and its learning Institutes: Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Human Development (MGAHD) and National Institute of E- Learning & Information Technology (NIELIT).

According to DIPR, at NIELIT, the secretary inaugurated a smart classroom which is equipped with better electronic facilities for teaching and learning. He also interacted with the students where Verma advised the students to be sincere in learning and have a clear direction for their career. He visited the new administrative and hostel buildings which is under construction, and he also surveyed the new proposed Ashram site, a 332 acre-land area donated by Chuchuyimlang village.

At Mahatma Gandhi Academy of Human Development he interacted with students and faculty members and said that each person must have a nodal plan for life. He also shared programs and schemes of the government, set up for the development of the North Eastern states.

At Chuchuyimlang village, a public reception in honour of the secretary was organized at Anumai Amphitheatre. Speaking at the program, he thanked the village for donating the huge plot of land and he also spoke about the initiatives taken up by DoNER in the North East.

Short speeches were delivered by DC Mokokchung, Sachin Jaiswal and Natwar Thakkar, Founder Nagaland Gandhi Ashram, Chuchuyimlang.

Natwar Takkar who is the Founder of Nagaland Gandhi Ashram Chuchuyimlang in the year 1955, delivering his short speech, recounted its history and shared fond memories of the Ashram.

Earlier, Naveen Verma also visited ECHAHABA Tea factory, which manufactures Merangkong brand tea in Tuli and interacted with tea farmers of the Cooperative Society and members of Merangkong village council. Dr. Aotoshi, chairman of ECHAHABA Tea Growers Co-operative Society, Merangkong facilitated the sessions. The registrar of cooperative societies, officials of Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency also attended the meeting.
