Department of Power Nagaland (DoPN) has informed the electricity consumers of nine towns – Chumukedima, Dimapur, Kohima, Mokokchung, Mon, Phek, Tuensang, Wokha, Zunheboto – that to rectify the lapses in IT electricity billing system the department has already launched an extensive validation/spot verification exercise for identification and correct tagging of all electricity consumers to the respective transformers and poles. This process is targeted to be completed by end of November 2019.

In a press release, chief engineer (D&R) Er. K. K. Awomi said that a team of authorised department personnel would be visiting the consumer premises to collect all mandatory details of connections. In this regard, the department has sought cooperation by the consumers/ house owners to make the exercise a success.
Further, all consumers receiving computerised bills including spot billing machine (SBM) bills have been requested to insist for signing on counter foil of the bills received to ensure authentication of actual bill delivery and accurate billing. The department has also invited any constructive advice, suggestions or corrective measures, which could be communicated at email address cepower1helpdesk@gmail.com DoPN appealed to all the stakeholders to assist the department in its effort to improve public delivery services. Under the new IT billing system, each consumer is identifiable with respect to the electricity service pole and the distribution transformer from where the power supply to the locality/wards/colonies are being catered.
