The event was inaugurated by director of DoSE, Wonthungo Tsopoe.

Similar programmes were held at all the district education offices and sub divisional education offices across the state on the same day.
JSA campaign commenced country wide on July 1, 2019 and will be observed in two phases till November 30, 2019, to address the water situation in the country. As a part of the campaign, senior officers from various Ministries of Government of India have been deputed as part of special teams to identify water stressed blocks and districts to work with local officials to redress the water scarcity situation in five specific intervention areas: (a) Water conservation and rainwater harvesting (b) Renovation of traditional and other water bodies/tanks (c) Reuse borewell recharge structures (d) Watershed development and (e) Intensive afforestation.
The campaign also involves mobilizing local people participation to make JSA a success. DoSE has initiated steps to enrich the programme by the participation of school students, who would act as awareness ambassadors. All students from class VI onwards will be involved in mass awareness creation activities and community education activities such as rallies, nukkad nataks, plantation drives, workshops, seminars etc.
Students from Nagaland will take part in the programme from July 17 to August 9.
