DPDB Wokha approves Arts College at Longsa

Members of the District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) Wokha at its monthly meeting held on December 10 approved for opening of Queen Mary’s College (Arts stream) at Longsa Village. 

According to DIPR, the meeting was attended by advisor Horticulture, Mhathung Yanthan and Dr. Chumben Murry MLA. 
Yanthan in his address, urged the departments to take pro-active role and study the  schemes and programmes implemented in the district. He also called for extensive evaluation study of the VDB activities under MNREGA in the district which was suggested by Dr. Chumben. During the meeting, District Evaluation Officer, Wokha gave a power point on its activities and programmes. 
Deliberating on the action plan on the four selected aspirational villages under Wokha district, the advisor reviewed the schemes and programmes submitted by head of offices to be taken up in the four selected villages. 
He said that the objective of adopting villages was to make them socially and economically empowered. 
Therefore, Yanthan urged all departments to ensure that the plans were effectively carried out in the right manner.
Later, DPDB members along with Witter Theological College, (WTC) Vankhosung, jointly celebrated advent Christmas at the Mhomo Chapel hall WTC.
Speaking as guest of honour at the celebration, the advisor thanked the DPDB members for their support and cooperation for successful implementation of developmental initiatives in the district.
Noting that Witter Theological College has set a benchmark of success with regard to academic excellence and developmental progress in a record time, he expressed confidence that the college will achieve greater goals under the visionary leaders, who were involved in the progressive growth of the college.
Deputy Commissioner and vice chairman DPDB Wokha, Orenthung Lotha delivered Christmas message. Chairman, Board of Governors, WTC, Mhonchumo Erui, Associate Pastor, Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, who was the speaker of the programme spoke on the topic ““Don’t miss Christmas”. 
Earlier, Dr. Moanungsang principal, WTC delivered the welcome address.
