DPO, SSA Zunheboto clarifies on incomplete school buildings

District project office (DPO) Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) Zunheboto has clarified on the issue of four incomplete school buildings under Aghunato education block.

In a press release, the SSA Zunheboto district assistant coordinator P. Ahito A stated that “the union bodies have been targeting the chairman and coordinator of the District Mission Authority (SSA) ie, DC and DEO and the state officials” in regard to the incomplete buildings. Therefore, the release clarified that even prior to the first press release by the Eastern Sumi Students Union (ESSU) on June 26, 2020, the incomplete projects were discussed and planned to be completed this year. It stated that a meeting was called on June 29, but unfortunately ESSU president could not attend on that date so the meeting was postponed to July 15 in which the VEC chairman and secretaries, council chairman, GBs of the four habitations were invited. 

Even though the Eastern Sumi Students Union representative did not turn up and since the issue was on the pending projects, the meeting was conducted with representatives of the four habitations, as the work was executed by the concern VEC under the supervision of DMA, stated the release. 

It further stated that during the meeting, discussions were held and resolved the following conditions, wherein GMS building of SMC Viyilho and SMC Ketomi shall be completed by October 2020; SMC Shevishe GMS building shall be completed by December 2020; SMC Ngozubo to be completed by December 2020; The work shall be executed by September 2020 due to the monsoon season after that strict disciplinary action shall be initiated against the defaulters. It also informed that the report has been submitted to the State Mission Authority Nagaland Kohima and Eastern Sumi Students Union. 

In this regard, it clarified that since the target of the department was to bring the schools at the doorstep of the children, “whatever losses that may have been incurred does not come under purview of the department for additional fund though it understand that at the time of abandonment, all four projects were on the verge of completion and not as is depicted today.” 

District project office Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan Zunheboto also stated that it shall not indulge in media war, and for any further clarifications, the unions are requested to contact the office, and “restrain from going to press implicating the entire state and district Education department.”
