District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Mon with technical support of District Horticulture Office (DHO) Mon has decided to take up Intensive Farming Activity Initiative (IFAI) in the neighbouring villages around Mon Town along with students’ body led by the Konyak Students’ Union (KSU).

A press release from assistant project officer DRDA Mon, W. Moba Konyak stated that the initiative was to blend traditional method of cultivation with modern farming techniques, focusing on how to make local cultivator into producer, earner and winner.

It stated that the main focus was to introduce highly nutritional local food items to the market, and also educate and introduce idea of marketing to villagers.

It further added that COVID-19 crisis made it more opportune to explore and invest in limitless agri-business prospects of the district.

The initiative will be extended to other sub-divisions in phases.

DRDA Mon would further be considering taking up with state government for organic certification of agri-products of Mon district, so that farmers get maximum benefits out of their hard labour.
