Drinking water facility installed at GPS Signal

Under Rotary India Wash in School (WinS) programme, the Rotary Club and Rotaract Club of Dimapur constructed a hand washing station and installed drinking water facility at Government Primary School (GPS), Signal Basti, Dimapur on June 3. 

The project was sponsored by Bimal Agarwal, a successful businessman in Dimapur.

A press release from, Rotary Club of Dimapur president, Dr. Nitin Agarwal stated that Rotaract president Akash Jain conducted the programme and informed about the details of the construction work.

Rotary Club Literacy chairman, Sanjay Jain, in his speech highlighted about the importance of hand washing and filtered drinking water. 

He added that clean water, better sanitation, teacher training and hygiene education in school can improve the health and education of children thereby creating a cycle of opportunity – improved education, increased school attendance and improved academic performance. 

Rotary president Dr. Nitin Agarwal said that hand washing with soap was the single most intervention in preventing number of diseases like diarrhea, RTI etc. 

He also highlighted about rotary activities and its efforts in making India literate. 

Earlier, the programme started with invocation by Suniho and GB, Lovito Zhimo welcomed and appreciated the work and service rendered by Rotary and Rotaract Club of Dimapur for the school.
