Under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) “per drop more crop” scheme, a drip irrigation project has been installed in Dimapur, wherein more than 200 units were installed at different fruit and vegetable farms covering several villages, under the initiative of district horticulture officer Dimapur, Temsu Longkumer.

According to DIPR report, DHO Dimapur has been inspecting farms, interacting with farmers and encouraging them to produce more for self sufficiency and income generation with the help of modern scientific technology provided by the government.

Speaking to DPRO Dimapur, one Mohindor from North Bengal irrigation, also the technician/in-charge for installation of the scheme for Nagaland shared that he surveyed the entire districts of Nagaland for the said project and informed that the project work under Dimapur district was nearing completion under the initiative of DHO Dimapur.

While informing that the 2nd phase would be carried out at Kohima, Mohindor informed his observation that with normal watering by cane loosened the roots but on the contrary, the drip fell drop by drop making fruits and vegetables healthy while enhancing water use efficiency.

It may be noted that PMKSY was launched with the objective to achieve convergence of investments in irrigation sector at field level. The scheme aims at providing end to end solutions in irrigation supply chain. Micro irrigation is an integral component of the scheme to maximise water use efficiency at farm level.

PMKSY also adopts state level planning and project based execution that allows states to draw their own irrigation development based on district irrigation plans and state irrigation plans.

Launched on December 3,1990. Nagaland Post is the first and highest circulated newspaper of Nagaland state. Nagaland Post is also the first newspaper in Nagaland to be published in multi-colour.
