With an aim to keep the city clean and so as to create a sense of responsibility, a cleanliness drive was carried out on Friday, in Dimapur.

The drive was initiated by Dimapur Sumi Students Union (DSSU) in collaboration with Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC).

About 300 volunteers actively took part in the cleanliness drive picking up wrappers, sweeping the streets collecting the trash, which was later collected by the DMC waste collector. DMC administrator, Albert Ezung, who was also present inspected the drive being carried out on Friday morning.

Talking to this reporter, DSSU president, Kahito Chishi said that the drive was carried out starting from City Tower-Khermahal-Holy Cross junction- Tourist Lodge. He mentioned that the drive was carried out to create a sense of responsibility to keep the city clean and also to ensure that the shopkeepers cleaned their surroundings.

Chishi also appealed the shopkeepers not to litter in open areas, and asked them to be responsible enough to dispose it to its designated places.
