Dimasa Students’ Union Nagaland (DSUN) organized a felicitation program for the successful students of HSLC, HSSLC, degree examination of 2018 and also the post graduates of 2017 at DBIdL Hall, Don Bosco Hr. Sec. School Campus, Dimapur on July 14.
A press release from the union said the program was held under the theme “The higher the Obstacles, the higher we get to rise”, with Vitono Gugu Haralu, (students councellor, Nagaland tools and training centre & director of Path Finder) and Humi Thaosen, assistant professor, Department of Anthropology, Guwahati University, Assam, as the resource persons.
Speaking on the occasion, Humi Thaosen emphasized on being competitive and optimistic and not being carried away by negativity. She said the students should not be confined to a few career options but gain mastery over the subjects and create opportunities. She encouraged the students to go for research studies and shared about how to keep a balance of interest and abilities.
Later in her exhortation, Vitono Gugu Haralu congratulated the students and said that parents can and should act as counselors for their children. She said that one must know one’s roots, history and culture, “it is because of  the ignorance of these that we face identity crises today, one should accept the truth and honestly embrace the society in order to develop our society,” she stated.
Haralu also said that the educated youth of today were famous for their ideas and knowledge in social media, but in reality, they are found nowhere to actually apply this knowledge into actions.
The program was chaired by Dhonthaidi Langthasa vice president DSUN; invocation was pronounced by Rev. Simon Khemprai, Doyapur Baptist Church; welcome address by Ditush Naben president DSUN.
