DVC directs butcher shops

Darogapathar Village Council (DVC) has directed all open butcher shops selling pork, beef, mutton etc. within the jurisdiction of Darogapathar along the highway to close down with immediate effect and make necessary arrangements to sell meat etc. in a well maintained and hygienic enclosure/room inside a proper building or market. In a press release DVC chairman Nungtok Meren Jamir and secretary K. Ado Bizo stated that this directive was being issued in pursuance of the EAC, Chumukedima’s order and in the interest of public health and safety, and also the decision of the joint meeting held on June 29.
Darogapathar Village Council has directed all meat shops to ensure that the customers receive the correct quantity and quality of meat by using electronic digital weighing scales and sourcing good, healthy slaughter animals only. All meat shops within Darogapathar have also been directed to strictly adhere to the rates fixed by the Chumukedima Town Council (CTC) as the upper limit/ceiling or the rates as fixed by the Darogapathar Village Council. The council further cautioned that any open butcher shop failing to comply with the directives of the council shall be penalized as per the decision of the council.
