Early intervention centre at NHAK

District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) has been established at Naga Hospital Authority Kohima (NHAK) with basic facilities to conduct tests for hearing, vision, behavioural assessments, etc, for children within the targeted group of 0 to 18 years.  A press release from state commissioner for PwDs Diethono Nakhro stated that, as per information received from mission director NHM, the assessments will be free of cost while aid for secondary and tertiary care at the empanelled hospitals as per Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) model costing. 

RBSK is an innovative and ambitious initiative which envisages child health screening and early intervention services, a systemic approach of early identification of medical conditions and link to care, support and treatment. 
The release stated that, the objective is early identification and early intervention for children from birth to 18 years to cover 4 ‘D’s - defects at birth, diseases in children, deficiency conditions and developmental delays including disabilities. Public have been informed to avail the services offered at DEIC at NHAK.
