Advisor, School Education, KT Sukhalu said that education was vital for a state like Nagaland to progress and having realize this, the state government was giving due importance on education sector. 

The advisor said this at the 25th anniversary of Memorial Girl’s Hostel-cum-28th freshers’ social at its college campus, Kohima on June 26. 

He also unveiled the jubilee plague of the girls’ hostel while Rev. Dr. Hokheto Chophi, pastor, Sumi Baptist Church Kohima (SBCK) offered the dedicatory prayer.

Impressed by the infrastructure provided by SBCK to start the College with a vision, the advisor called upon the students to become role models in the State after passing out from this institution. He expressed hope that the college would grow from “onwards and upwards” and added that “there are many institutions today which have different reasons but the basic purpose of any school, any college or any institution for the younger generation is with a vision”.

He further reminded the students that they have lot to contribute for the development and take the State forward while assuring of the PDA government’s commitment to give good governance and development.

Meanwhile, he also advised the teachers to be more committed in upbringing the present generation to bring changes, as a day would reflect how they have contributed to the development of the State.

He further asked the governing body of the college to give priority to those girls, who were coming from far places to seek admission in the hostel.

The hostel was constructed under UGC XIIth Plan Period & Tribal Hostel Development Fund, Government of Nagaland.

Coinciding with 25th anniversary of the Girls’ Hostel, the 28th Fresher’s Social of the college (Arts & Commerce) was also held at the auditorium wherein Katho Awomi, president ANCSU attended as guest speaker.

Speeches were also delivered by Y.Shongmeth and Sara Munir Choudhury on behalf of the seniors and juniors respectively.

Akhum Anar and Visienuo Nienuo were crowned Mr. & Miss Freshers.
