A team of Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH) and Kiphire Tuensang District Sumi Students’ Union (KTDSSU) on April 21 visited health care centres under additional deputy commissioner (ADC) Seyochung headquarters and extra assistant commissioner (EAC) Sitimi headquarters.

A joint press release by ESH vice president, H Phutoi Sumi and KTDSSU, Grito Sumi stated that the team was “satisfied” of the preparedness to tackle COVID-19, in the event of any outbreak in the town.

ESH and KTDSSU said during the visit it learnt that despite “poor infrastructure and no financial assistance” from the government, the Block Task Force Sitimi Town had managed to collect money and procure medicine and medical equipment for the people.

In this regard, the signatories have asked the deputy commissioner Kiphire to look into the matter and ensure that the need of Government High School (GHS) Sitimi quarantine centre was met.

ESH and KTDSSU have also expressed concern over irregular supply of power at Seyochung ADC Hq and urged the power department to look into the matter.

Pointing out that Seyochung and Sitimi headquarters have its own CPO centre, ESH and KTDSSU asked the concerned authority to allow the centres to separately stock its monthly allocation for the convenience of the public. The administrations were also urged to monitor aids from government and ensure equal distribution to the beneficiaries.

Further, ESH and KTDSSU have encouraged the public to continue to cooperate and follow preventive measures laid down by the government.
