EYL beat Waxen by 6 wkts in WCC

EYL beat Waxen CC by six wickets and Athlete Brothers Club (ABC) defeated Veterans XI by 44 runs in the ongoing 23rd edition of Winter Cricket Challenge (WCC), at local ground, Wokha on Sunday. 

Batting first after winning the toss, Waxen CC managed to score only 69 runs. Imomenba, Nchumbemo and Manju were the only batsmen managed to score double figures of 14, 13 and 10 runs respectively. 

The strong and tidy bowling of EYL was led by man of the match, James, who took three wickets. Phyodemo, Alamo and Liren shared two wickets each.

In reply, EYL reached the target in the 15th over losing four wickets. Tsenpon remained unbeaten on 23 runs, while Nzanthung scored 17 runs. 

Manju claimed two wickets while Thungjamo and Imomenba took one wicket each. 

In the second match of the day, ABC batting first after winning the toss, set a victory target of 148 losing eight wickets. Renben Ngullie top scored with 36 runs, the other run getters were Limhathung Kit 20 runs, Tumchobemo 20 runs and Nongothung 18 runs. Kumchen and Johny shared two wickets each and Ponathung, David, Mezetong and Janbemo claimed one wicket each.

Veterans XI batsmen were bowled out in the 18th over. Ashish top scored with 19 runs, Libenthung was unbeaten on 19 runs and Moyo 12 runs. Chumlanthung took three wickets, Yanren and Nzan shared two wickets each. Renben Ngullie was named man of the match.
