Felicitation programmes held for toppers & teachers

15 candidates from Catholic schools emerged in the top 20 list of HSLC examination, five candidates from HSSLC (arts), six candidates from HSSLC (science), and four candidates from HSSLC (commerce) emerged in the Top-10 list of NBSE from Catholic schools while two candidates of HSLC and five candidates of HSSLC were placed in the subject toppers list (excluding second languages and additional subject) of NBSE. 

In this regard, a felicitation-cum-award to toppers & teachers of catholic schools was organized by Commission for Education Diocese of Kohima (CEDOK) on Saturday, at St. Joseph Higher Secondary School, Chumukedima. 

Speaking at the programme as guest of honour, commissioner of Police, Dimapur Limasunep Jamir in his speech congratulated the students and Catholic schools for securing 100 percent result. 

He mentioned that schools able to deliver cent percent result reflected the selfless dedication, sense of mission and sacrifice of the teachers, fathers, administrators and presence of God.  

Emphasising on the students in general, Jamir said “with success comes more responsibility” as challenges will come their way to test not only their analytical mind but their intuitive mind as well.  Jamir added that it was not enough to be brilliant but also important to understand one’s own stand, weakness, strength and be able to make the best choices to continuously develop the mind.  Quoting “Intelligence is not only the ability to reason but draw from memory, relevant materials and use it with focus attention” Jamir mentioned that intelligence comes from hard-work, discipline and emergent. Furthermore, he encouraged the students to continue to broaden their horizons, educational base, acquire more knowledge and make a difference in their life not as professional but as a good citizen in the days to come.      

Transport commissioner, Nagaland Elias T Lotha while delivering special message also encouraged the students saying that as one branched out in pursuit of higher education, one must aim to develop in every capability. Quoting TS Eliot “Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge? Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?” he encouraged the students to continue to love wisdom and inculcate the desire to learn. 

Highlights of the programme included felicitation to teachers, awards to schools, to catholic toppers and subject toppers and to rank holders of HSLC & HSSLC.

At the programme, welcome address was delivered by CEDOK secretary reverend Fr. Jacob Charalel where he maintained that this year in Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) HSLC examination, 3844 students from 57 catholic schools appeared out of which 3844 qualified securing 94.3 pass percent and eight schools secured 100 percent result. In the HSSLC (Arts) examination, 1798 students from 25 schools appeared of which 1680 qualified securing 93. 44 percent and three schools secured 100 percent result. In HSSLC (com) examination, 178 students from six schools appeared of which 171 qualified securing 96.07 percent, one school secured 100 percent. And in HSLC (science) examination, 465 students appeared from nine schools of which 423qualied securing 90.97 percent success, one school secured 100 percent.

DPS Dimapur: Delhi Public School (DPS) Dimapur organised the programme for the school toppers of AISSCE (Class XII board examination) 2019 on May 11. 

A press release from DPS principal, B. K. Nanda stated that, Dr. Aotoshi, pro vice chairman of DPS Dimapur attributed the achievement of the school through collaborative effort of the students, parents and teaching community. He also stated, “DPS Dimapur is no competition with other schools. We want to surpass our past achievements.” He also encouraged the outgoing student achievers to be mindful when they go out as they will be representing the family, community, and school.

B.K Nanda, in his address lauded the students for bringing laurels to the institution. He also congratulated the teachers, staff and parents for their effort and guidance. 

Altogether 39 students securing 85% and above were felicitated. Amongst them, 7 students scoring 95% and above and 14 students scoring 90-94.80% were given a cash awards each. School topper Shruti Jain from Commerce Stream scored/secured 97%, Ketuse E Peseyie and Satya Ranjan Ray Chowdhury from Arts and Science Stream scored 96.60% and 89%.

Student achievers along with their parents, members of the DPS managing board, teachers, staff and students of DPS Dimapur attended the function.

KCF, Pfutsero: Kuzhatephe Collegiate Fellowship (KCF) honoured and felicitated successful HSLC candidates of Union Christian School (UCS) Pfutsero on May 10. 

A press release from KCF general secretary, Ketshengupe Losou stated that CPO president and former headmaster of UCS, Mikha Kenye, who is also the pioneer of KCF while exhorting the successful candidates, lauded the achievements of the students and the school for the successful result. He urged the students to be sincere and work hard to excel in their future endeavours and to manage their time judiciously. He also enlightened the students saying that the alumnus of UCS has excelled in various fields making considerable achievements for the past years. 

KCF expressed gratitude to all the donors for the awards and also congratulated the successful candidates for bringing pride and glory to the school and wished them successful endeavors. The students who secured distinction marks in particular subjects were awarded with cash prizes. Awards were also given to the concern subject teachers.
