Ao region FGN/NNC celebrated its 56 year of ceasefire between the FGN and GOI at Ungma village, which was attended by all the national workers and people from different villages on September 6.

A press release from FGN/NNC Ao region, Koridang stated that, during the celebration it reaffirmed that August 14, 1947 declared that Naga people are free and sovereign but Indian government sent its army and tried to occupy its territories which resulted in fight against each other. The release stated that, this compelled both parties to sign a ceasefire on September 6, 1964 but the ceasefire was unilaterally abrogated by India on August 30, 1972. In this regard, the Ao region FGN/NNC reiterated that FGN/NNC will continue to honour and maintain the international ceasefire. It also reminded to all the free Nagas to treasure it as God given heritage and pray for the cause.
