Fire contained in Dimapur and Avangkhu village

In the wee hours of April 7 at 2:57 a.m Fire and Emergency Services mobilized a quick response team to control the fire from Fire Station Dimapur (Central) on receiving a fire call at Kuda B Khel, Lane-20, near Hope Academy, Dimapur. 

A press release from duty commander SI Kelesezo Tsukru stated that, occupant of the house, a mother age 55 years was severely burnt and her son age 17 years partially burnt. First aid were given by neighbours and shifted to Zion Hospital. Besides house hold property, lives stock of a cow and its calf were also partially burnt from the fire incident. However, due to timely response from fire team brought the fire under control and also from spreading further. The cause of the fire is unknown. The response team was led by duty commander SI Kelesezo Tsukru. 

In a similar incident, Phek Battalion assisted in averting a major forest fire in Avangkhu village, Phek district on April 5. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), on receiving information about a fire outbreak in Avangkhu village, a quick reaction team was mobilised from Avangkhu Company Operating Base comprising of 22 personnel. The prompt response of troops and relentless effort, along with residents, averted any likelihood of the forest fire from damaging precious flora and fauna.
