First CCA convention underway at Chizami

The first Chakhesang Catholic Association (CCA) and 7th Chakhesang Catholic Women Association (CCWA) convention coinciding with the Golden Jubilee of the Sacred Heart Church, Chizami  under the theme “ Lord increase our faith” (Luke 17: 5 )  got underway at Chizami Local ground under Phek district  on Friday. The programme would conclude on January 12.    

The inaugural programme of the convention was graced by Assistant Parish Priest St. Loyala Parish Kiphire, Rev. Fr. Vekupa George Rhakho as the speaker. In his speech, he spoke from the book of 1 Corinthian 2:5.  He reminded that the letter to Corinthians was written in the 56th and 57th AD yet rightly reflecting the present time. Drawing inspiration from various individuals, the speaker inspired the delegates on the will of God and consequences in defiling His will. Revered Rhakho reminded the congregation that God bestows incomprehensible power when one follows His divine plans.
The first president of the Chakhesang Catholic Association, Keposwu John Resu in his address shared about the formation of the Chakhesang Catholic Union way back on October 14, 1994 at Holy Family Parish, Pfutsero. He informed that it was burdened by the status of the Catholic community in 1980s and early 1990s with social inferiority, low literacy and economical constraint, the Chakhesang Catholic Union was formed.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Martha Dukru, invocation prayer was offered by principal St. Peter’s School Kikrüma, Rev. Fr. Dhazü Gilobert SJ, welcome address was delivered by Catechist Sacred Heart Church Chizami, Neipe Sylvester, presidential address was delivered by president CCA, Neingulie Michal Krome, special song was presented by choir, closing prayer was said by Catechist, St. Mathew’s Church Khezhakeno, Ruokovilhou Raymond.  
The convention would be graced by Bishop of Kohima Diocese, Most Reverend Dr. James Thoppil, OFS, Rev. Deacon Dr. Sherman Kuek, Director, St Joseph College Boys Hostel, Jakhama, Rev. Fr. Vemudo Joseph Kezo and Assistant Parish Priest St. Loyala Parish Kiphire, Rev. Fr. Vekupa George Rhakho as main celebrant and speakers respectively.
